HOW TO MAKE A MÖBIUS STRIP:

Materials

1. Paper strips. We cut ours in various sizes. For our project, pieces at least 12 inches are best.

2. Scissors

3. Pencil

4. Tape or glue. Tape eliminates waiting time, always a good thing.

5. Ruler (optional)

6. Enthusiastic children (If they aren’t enthusiastic at the start of the project, they will be by the end.)

Instructions:

Mark an X on both ends of the same side of the paper strip. Half-twist the paper so the Xs touch. Tape or glue togethe

With your pencil, draw a line down the middle of the strip, making a continuous line until you reach the starting point. Take your scissors and cut down this line.

Continue the line until you reach the starting point. You will see (what looks like) two parallel lines on the surface. Cut the strip.

HOW TO MAKE MÖBIUS STRIP HEARTS

Materials

1. Paper. I prefer origami paper (affiliate link). It comes in pretty colors and is easy to cut, even when layered with tape!

2. Tape

3. Scissors

Instructions:

Cut paper into strips. Vary the length and width to get a variety of sizes. You can even link a small heart with a large heart for extra cuteness.

To make a Möbius strip, bring the ends together making a half twist. Tape.

Make your second Möbius strip going the opposite direction. This is very important. The trick will not work if your Möbius strips twist the same way.

Tape your Möbius strips together at right angles.

Start a cut so that you are cutting one of the strips right down the middle. You will need to do this twice, as when the first cut comes to an end, the second heart has not yet emerged.
